Nombuyiselo “Mbuyi” Zondi, a dedicated student at the University of Pretoria's Faculty of Education, is on a mission to revolutionize the Foundation Phase of education. She firmly believes that reading is the cornerstone of learning, serving as the bedrock upon which all academic pursuits are built. Her unwavering commitment is directed towards researching the factors contributing to poor reading outcomes in indigenous African languages, within the Foundation Phase. Her aim is to elevate the quality of indigenous African languages language instruction, paving the way for a transformative shift in education and global research impact. Beyond her scholarly endeavours, Nombuyiselo passionately authors children stories in Southern Sesotho, giving back to her community, and actively collaborates on cutting-edge AI projects, embracing the power of interdisciplinary solutions. Her overarching goal is to ensure that every child can read with comprehension by 2030, aligning with the ambitious vision of the Sustainable Development Goals.
