Nathan Brown

Nathan Brown is pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science at Clemson University with a concentration in Data Science and Informatics. His research specializes in natural language processing (NLP) and language models. He has previously published work on improving model efficiency via pruning and knowledge distillation (https://arxiv.org/abs/2311.13657) and is currently working to develop the first truly open-source large language model (LLM) capable of Setswana. Nathan has previously interned at Microsoft as a software engineer and has led the organization of BothoHacks, a free hackathon held in Gaborone, Botswana. In addition, he has prior experience in virtual reality research, as well as working professionally in cyber security and front-end development positions.
